Volunteering at the Ferry Building Gallery

As a community gallery operated by the District of West Vancouver, the Ferry Building Gallery depends on the participation of the team of dedicated volunteers who share their time and talents to help us fulfill our mandate. We strive to create an environment that allows our volunteers to give back to the community while developing their own skills, gaining valuable experiences and finding personal fulfillment. To apply, please download and fill out our Volunteer Questionnaire form below.

Docents

  • Engage with gallery patrons and answer inquiries about the art, artists, the gallery and the surrounding area
  • Track atttendance
  • Encourage visitors to leave their comments in our guestbook and sign up for our e-newsletter
  • Sell artwork, books and cards

Great Stuff Christmas Gift show

  • Set up and maintain gallery displays
  • Sell craft items (show has approximately 35 artists and is more like a retail store); handle cash transactions and assist customers on the floor
  • Gift wrap items

Harmony Arts Festival

  • Track attendance
  • Sell artwork, cards and books
  • Assist with setup of the Artspeaks tent
  • Assist at Artspeaks workshops / demos / lectures

Evening Events & Opening Receptions

  • Assist with gallery evening programs / exhibition openings
  • Set up chairs and tables, re-arrange gallery and prepare food & drinks
  • Host, serve and take stats of patrons
  • Handle cash transactions for drop-in patrons

FRIENDS OF THE GALLERY

Friends of the Gallery is a registered non-profit society committed to supporting and promoting the growth of the Ferry Building Gallery, and to building an endowment to ensure the longevity of the Gallery.  Friends of the Gallery Society supports the growth and exhibitions of the Ferry Building Gallery with fundraising, liaison with the community, and securing financial partners.  An Endowment has been established for Planned Giving.  Gordon Smith, Order of Canada recipient, prominent artist and West Vancouver resident, is the Honorary Chair of the Friends of the Gallery.

You may wish to make a donation to assist the gallery to maintain its standards of excellence, and to support us in producing informative and educational exhibitions and programs to serve you.

We accept cash or cheque donations and we will issue you a receipt for income tax purposes for any amount of $25.00 or more.
