Mexico: Traditions and Contradictions

August 16 - 28

mixed media featuring 14 Mexican-Canadian artists in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico

Opening Reception: Tuesday, August 16, 6 - 8 p.m.

Meet the Artists: Saturday, August 20, 2 - 3 p.m.

The image of the exhibition, a circle symbolizing the pre-Hispanic ball game in which the winner was sacrificed to honour the ancient Gods, illustrates a tradition of ancient Mexico while the artwork showcased hints at the contradictions of modern Mexico.

The goal of the exhibition is to celebrate the Mexican spirit in Canada, a country that has welcomed all the exhibiting artists as newcomers.
