We are pleased to present a workshop specially designed for artists and educators. Whether you are an artist interested in collaborating with educators to share your skills and knowledge with students and bring learning alive, or an educator interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum to enrich students' experiences, the Collaborating with Educators workshop is for you. Through presentation and discussion, participants will gain insight into working together on projects and inquiry-based learning in the classroom.

E. Andrea Klann is a visual artist, illustrator, writer, teacher, facilitator and creative thinker. She is a graduateof UBC, studied at Emily Carr University and also in London, UK. She has an extensive history of public exhibitions and her paintings in oil are represented by Cat hy Church, Tartooful Gallery and held in private collections in Canada, the US, the UK and Australia.

How is pricing best determined for an artwork? In which ways is a print priced differently from a painting? What factors influence how much a collector might be willing to spend? This workshop will use group activities and case studies for participants to discuss pricing approaches for artists.

Presenter: Birthe Piontek. Birthe is a fine art photographer based in Vancouver BC. She received her MFA from the University of Essen in Germany in Communication Design and Photography. Her work has been exhibited internationally, in both solo and group shows, and is featured in many private and public collections. Birthe describes her photography as an exploration of the individual. She teaches at the Audain Faculty of Art at Emily Car University of Art and Design.


 Laara CermanHow to Photograph Your Artwork

Thursday, May 31, 2018, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Do you have amazing artwork but poor photo-documentation of it? Do you suffer from website shame because the images of your work and yourself are not up to scratch? This workshop was made for you! Give your hard work the respect it deserves with high quality shots of your art installed and looking its very best. Your website, social media and future show applications will thank you for it!

Presenter: Laara Cerman. Laara's work explores the intersection of art, science, history and the themes of impermanence, a return to nature, and the fragility of life. She creates her photographs by capturing multiple digital images and then pieces them together in post-production, a skill she has mastered through working as a freelance retoucher in the commercial photography industry. She is currently focused on documenting the wild plants of British Columbia for one of her more recent series “Codex Pacificus”.
